1. Award-winning Film, “And Still I Rise: Maya Angelou” To Be Screened at Ron Robinson Theater

The award-winning film, “And Still I Rise: Maya Angelou,” will be screened Friday, April 19 at 6 pm at the Ron Robinson Theater (doors open at 5:30 pm). Join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of Maya Angelou with an evening filled with inspiration, culture, and community. Join us as we continue honoring the iconic Maya Angelou, through memories shared by friends, colleagues and family. An interactive conversation with Janis F. Kearney, Celebrate! Maya Project founder, Karen Bryan, incoming President, Arkansas Learning through the Arts; and you – the audience, follows the film screening. Please join us for this special event! 


2. Quilts for All to Host No Sew Workshop to Help Increase Inventory of Free Quilts Given to Local Homeless and Shelters

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (April 16, 2024) – Quilts For All (formerly Quilts for Kids) needs your help
to restock its inventory of quilts that are distributed free of charge to Little Rock-area homeless,
unsheltered, and other neighbors in need. A special, free No Sew Quilting Workshop will be held
on Saturday, April 20, from 1:00-3:00PM at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library, 4800
W. 10 th Street, Little Rock. All are welcome. No experience required. Fleece fabric kits will be
provided for braided, no-sew quilts. Space is limited.


For nearly 10 years, quilts have been gifted to the Christmas Caravan, local hospitals and
other local organizations that provide comfort and support the health and wellbeing of residents
in need. “Many people often want to help others, but think their contribution may be too small,”
explains Quilts For All founder Marla Hardison. “But that’s not true. Anyone can make a quilt, and
a quilt can be a lifeline for someone.”

3. HEROES Against Bullying Hosts Its Inaugural Gala

Jada Simpson, has taken a formidable stand against bullying. She has founded HEROES Against Bullying, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to her passionate bullying prevention platform. She is thrilled to announce the inaugural Gala fundraiser happening on April 20th, 2024, in Little Rock. This event promises to be a captivating and concise evening filled with entertainment. Jada, who shines as Miss Greater Little Rock 2024, will also be generously donating funds to several local community organizations that stand to gain significantly from these contributions.
