6. Philander Smith College Announces Its Commencement Exercises

Please join us via live-stream on Saturday, May 8th as Philander Smith College holds Commencement Exercises for both the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 at the Statehouse Convention Center, 101 Main Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. Ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. for the Class of 2021 and at 3 p.m. for the Class of 2020. U.S. Rep. French Hill (R-AR 2nd District) will offer greetings.
This is an admission “by ticket only” event. Both ceremonies will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Sherece Y. West-Scantlebury, CEO of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation and Chairwoman of the Philander Smith College Board of Trustees, will serve as speaker for both occasions. West-Scantlebury is nationally known for her transformative leadership in the areas of community development, public policy, and, most recently, disaster recovery. Philander Smith College will award honorary doctorate degrees to Governor Asa Hutchinson and Mable Donaldson, and posthumously to Dr. James Rush at the 2021 Commencement Ceremony at 9 a.m.
Mayor Frank Scott,Dr. Annie Winkler Williams, and Linda Harding will be conferred honorary doctorate degrees at the 2020 Commencement Ceremony at 3 p.m.

Attention contractors and solo tradesmen! The Metropolitan Housing Alliance is reintroducing the renovations project at Madison Heights I&II and Homes at Granite Mountain. MHA is accepting proposals from new bidders and receiving verifications or modifications from existing bidders. All responses should be submitted by 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 11.
