1. The Black History Commission of Arkansas Hosts “African Americans and Religion in Arkansas” Symposium featuring Dr. Logan Hampton, Rev. Edna Mack-Pettigrew, and Walter Washington

The Black History Commission of Arkansas will host its next symposium Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The theme will be “African Americans and Religion in Arkansas.”

Featured speakers include:

– Dr. Logan Hampton, President of Lane College “Faith of our Fore Parents”

– Commissioner Walter Washington – “Religion from a Millennial’s Perspective”

– Rev. Edna Mack-Pettigrew, Associate Minister, Bethel A.M.E. Church “I Am A Woman, I Am A Minister”

It will be held at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, located at 501 W. 9th Street in downtown Little Rock. Light refreshments will be served.

2. ReMix Ideas Hosting Free Little Rock Night Market on Saturday, June 4th

A family friendly event in bringing the community together through food and music while promoting diversity within the city

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Jun. 1, 2022) – ReMix Ideas, in partnership with Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) and the Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency, is excited to present the Little Rock Night Market at Library Square outside the CALS Main Library in downtown Little Rock on Saturday, June 4th, at 5 to 10 PM. 

This free, family-friendly event will be bringing the community together through food and music while celebrating the diversity within our city and encouraging shoppers to buy local. 

The public can expect food trucks, local makers and artisan vendors, music featuring Nicky Parrish, Butterfly, Tim Anthony, Mike Walker, DJ Nick Hud, DJ Charles, and much more at the Little Rock Night Market. Additionally, there will be free children’s books to promote the importance of reading thanks to the generosity of CALS.  

“It’s more than just a market, it’s a nightlife experience,” said Benito Lubazibwa, founder of ReMix Ideas. “The strategic intent of the Little Rock Night Market is to provide an opportunity for local entrepreneurs, startups, artists, and makers to showcase their imagination and strengthen the local economy by creating a space that encourages shoppers to buy local.”
