The nation mourns the loss of one of its last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, Jerry T. Hodges Jr., who passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 99. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in the Arkansas Delta, Hodges was a member of the renowned 477th Bombardment Group and the last known Tuskegee Airman from Arkansas. His life exemplified courage, resilience, and a commitment to breaking racial barriers during World War II, paving the way for integration in the U.S. military. Beyond his military service, Hodges became a trailblazer in accounting and finance, civic leader, and an advocate for education, leaving an enduring impact on his community and the nation.
