1. Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission to Host Free Food Giveaway January 15

LITTLE ROCK, AR – In response to the heightened levels of food insecurity in Arkansas, and in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission will host a free food giveaway at 11 a.m. January 15, 2025, at 906 Broadway in Little Rock. During the event, thousands of pounds of food will be given away.

According to recent studies, one in five Arkansans experiences hunger, a reality that worsens during the holidays. The commission recognizes this urgent need and is committed to supporting local communities through this special initiative.

“This event reflects Dr. King’s philosophy of serving others,” Executive Director DuShun Scarbrough said. “We hope to alleviate some of the burdens families face by providing food, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals during this critical time. It’s a great way to honor Dr. King on his birthday.”

The food giveaway will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Families are encouraged to arrive early and bring bags or containers to carry their food items.

For more information about this event or to learn more about how to support the commission’s efforts to address food insecurity, please contact the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission at 888-299-KING, or visit www.arkingdream.org.
