3. Now Accepting Applications: Beyond the Divide Small Black Business District

West 9th Street Is Ready for Its Next Chapter — And We Want You In It
At the height of its glory, Little Rock’s West 9th Street was a world unto itself. Many Black-owned businesses, homes, and cultural institutions lined this corridor — a theater, pool hall, pharmacy, barbershop, grocery stores, and more. Legends like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, B.B. King, and Billie Holiday performed here, drawn to a street that pulsed with entrepreneurial spirit and cultural energy.
This April, that legacy comes alive again.
From April 1–30, 2026, the Beyond the Divide Small Black Business District is launching a month-long pop-up marketplace along West 9th Street — up to 22 vendors in an innovative shipping container district, bringing retail, food, and creative services back to one of Arkansas’s most storied corridors.
Stepping into this space means becoming part of a living legacy. Applications are open to entrepreneurs and creatives from across Little Rock’s diverse community, starting with built-in foot traffic, marketing support, and community backing behind you. More opportunities will be available to the full community throughout the Beyond the Divide project.
*Applications close March 6, 2026. Apply today and be part of the revival.*
